Last Sunday, Faith Formation held their last family class. The families participated in a Blessing Cup Celebration. The tradition of the Blessing Cup comes from the Jewish Seder meal that is carried into our Christian faith through Jesus during the Last Supper. The children served a few foods that could have been similar to those eaten during the Passover that Jesus and His friends celebrated during the Last Supper. In addition to some foods we eat today. The children’s Blessing Cups that they decorated were used to help celebrate the journey of our Catholic faith and the sacrament they are going to, or already have, received. What was shared between families was a way to help us understand more about the historic origins of our faith as well as show what a wonderful and important step they are taking, or have taken in their faith journey.
